A young man steps onto the plane,
He must think he knows it all.
I’ve been around much longer than he has,
I’ll be seventy-three this Fall.
I’m flyin’ out to Corpus Christi,
to see an old friend from my past.
They’ve asked me out to sing her goodbyes…
at ninety-six she rests at last.
Life, has passed me by. I’ve hardly noticed with all my plans.
Time, time has slipped right through my hands.
He’s lookin’ out the window,
At thirty-thousand feet.
I’m tellin’ him about the airlines’ history,
But he just wants to sleep.
I can tell that he can’t hear me,
Doesn’t care to understand.
Time catches up with all of us,
You’ve gotta’ live the secret while you can.
Life, can pass you by. It’s hard to notice with all your plans.
Time, time can slip right through your hands.
Life, just passes by. You’d better notice, while you can.
Don’t let your time, slip right through your hands.
